Vanice Serrano of ASAP Towing & Storage
JACKSONVILLE, Flor. – In two fields that are often dominated by men, Vanice Serrano was honored last week as this 2013 Small Business Leader of the Year by the JAX Chamber. Serrano is owner and vice-president of ASAP Towing & Storage in Jacksonville.
She first opened her one-woman shop in 1995 with a single self-loader. Since then it has grown to a staff of 32, stretched over 5 locations that operate 18 trucks between them. The company offers the broadest coverage area of The River City.
“This is such a surprise,” Serrano said, accepting her award last Thursday night. “I’m just a Westside girl with a tow truck company.”
Serrano was selected from a group of 10 area business leaders, each nominated by chamber council. Mayor Alvin Brown was on hand for the presentation, held at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, home of the Jacksonville Suns.
